General

The General section of the Settings window contains three sub-panels, General, Send/Receive and Operations window:

General

When starting, go directly to my "Inbox" folder

When checked, you'll be taken directly to the Inbox folder when eM Client starts. Otherwise eM Client starts in the widgets section.

Minimize application to tray

Usually, the default behavior of an application window when minimized (e.g. by pressing the minimize [dash] button in the top right corner of application window), it goes to the taskbar. But when this field is checked, eM Client will minimize to the tray at the lower right corner of the taskbar instead. To restore the eM Client window simply double-click the eM Client's icon (in the shape of a red envelope) in the tray.

Send/Receive

Send and receive messages at startup

When checked, eM Client will automatically send and receive messages at startup.

Check for new messages every X minutes

Check this field to let eM Client automatically check for new emails. This action will be performed every given number of minutes and you can change this frequency in the numeric field to the right of the checkbox..

Operations window

Show window on send and receive

When checked, an Operations Window will appear displaying the operation details during sending and receiving E-Mails.

Hide window when send and receive completes

When checked, the Operations Window will close itself after sending and receiving E-Mails.

Show window when error occurs

When checked, the Operations window will only appear when eM Client encounters errors during sending and receiving E-Mails.

Make default

Click this button to make eM Client the default E-Mail client. The text field to the left tells you whether eM Client is the current default E-Mail client.
